Child of the Stars is the seventh issue of the Thorgal comic series, it contains 3 short stories from Thorgal's youth
Story summary[]
In the wild and inhospitable European far north, in the land of Scandinavian myth and runic legend, Viking warriors discover a child in a space capsule. Leif Haraldson adopts him and gives him the names of his gods: Thorgal Aegirsson, son of Thor (god of lightning) and son of Aegir (master of the sea). Upon Leif's death, the Viking chief Gandalf the Insane isolates Thorgal from others. Only the friendship of Aaricia, the daughter of Gandalf, brightens Thorgal's solitary childhood. Their mutual affection quickly turns into true love. The tale takes place in the seventh century and draws its narrative power from the imaginary world of magic spells and legends, where men and gods still mix. More than a simple adventure story, this series is a true apology for freedom and the fight against the arbitrary, because what stands out most in Thorgal's personality is his deep sense of humanity...
The Lost Drakkar[]
1] The story takes place during the birth of Thorgal. Viking village of Northland went on an expedition. 2] After a strong storm wiped, they returned to their point of departure, where they discover in a space capsule, a baby. Leif Haraldson, king of the Vikings decided to adopt and name Thorgal Aegirsson.
The Metal That Didn't Exist[]
1] The story takes place five years after the previous one. Thorgal is in its 6th year. There 1000 years ago, the serpent Nidhogg challenged in a game of checkers , Ivaldir , father and king of the dwarves. The challenge was the name of the loser. 2] The dwarf lost . For the snake agrees to make his name, the dwarf would provide " a jewel made in metal that does not exist ." The snake gave him 1,000 years to succeed. Ivaldir then sent one of his dwarves, Tjahzi to accomplish this task . After 999 years of fruitless searching, Tjahzi met Thorgal . Which gave him her necklace , made of a metal from the adoptive planet Atlanteans . A metal that does not exist on Earth. Recis adventures of Thorgal Aegirsson
3] Thorgal Tjahzi walked her home. During the trip , Thorgal faced 12 queues snake Nidhogg . So he allowed Tjahzi to pass, but Thorgal was mortally wounded . Tjahzi brought the metal and Ivaldir could regain its nom.4 ] Before the courage of small Thorgal , the goddess Frigg decided to resurrect . Upon returning home , he learned that some " Aaricia " girl Gandalf the Madman , was born
The Talisman[]
1] Thorgal to 10 years. Following the advice of a priest, Thorgal hand to meet a supposed god, for he helps to know where it comes from and who he est.2.5 ] The man explains it all. 2] There has milliées years , a cataclysm occurred on Earth, and the Atlanteans , the planet's inhabitants perished . A small group of them managed nevertheless to escape the Earth aboard a spacecraft. They moved on a distant planet to perpetuate their race. After a thousand years of restocking, they envied a small expedition to repopulate the Earth. Shipping included , among other Xargos , Varth and Haynee . Xargos is the commander of the ship and is the father of Haynee . Varth is the " sub- commander" of Xargos . Haynee Varth and are in love. Following a dispute , the expedition Xargos separates and lands on Earth. Xargos share in a smaller vessel, land only . The landing of the expedition with Varth and Haynee goes wrong. The ship is " damaged" . They landed on the Ile des Mers- Jellies and gradually it will all mourires an " unknown illness ." Recognizing this , Varth , Haynee and the last survivors of the expedition desiring leave the island on a raft. ( The magician in the album " L'Île -des- Mers- Jellies " was therefore the last survivor of the expedition is not left on the raft ) . At sea, Haynee birth of Thorgal and abandoned in a small capsule. This is how the Vikings were able to find later capsule containing Thorgal baby on their shores. 3] To summarize: Xargos , Varth , Haynee and Thorgal are Atlanteans . Xargos is the grandfather and father of Thorgal Haynee ; Varth is the father of Thorgal and companion Haynee ; Haynee is the mother of Thorgal and companion Varth ; Varth and Xargos are " cold."
4] After having told everything , man , Xargos therefore , it erases his memories. Thorgal returns to his village.
